April Newsletter

Currently in the Truax Home:

James: James is finally back in St. George living with us after almost 2 years of him working in Las Vegas. We are SO happy to have him back at home. He is currently working on starting his own business and although things are going slowly, we are confident that everything will work out in it's own time. Meanwhile, we are simply enjoying the fact that we get to actually see him daily and eat dinner with him every night!

Shelly: Shelly is trying to get her life situated so she can move up to Provo for 6 weeks at the end of this month. She has gotten the role of Mrs. Flinders in the Professional Summer Tour of "Saturday's Warrior". She will also be featured (somehow) in the new sequel of "Saturday's Warrior" entitled "The White Star". These shows will be touring throughout Idaho, Utah, Nevada & Arizona this summer. So... ironically enough, now that James is finally home, she is going to be leaving. Hopefully they will find ways to meet up as a family as frequently as possible. Shelly is also training to become an SLS voice teacher. She has attended classes, conventions and workshops so she can become certified. So... now in addition to teaching violin, she is also teaching voice!

Tori: Tori is finally 14 and excited to be in Mia Maids. She is working hard this year in hopes to receive her Young Womanhood Recognition. She has been working hard in dance and has also been getting voice lessons from her mom whenever possible. For Christmas she got art supplies and a lesson on oil painting from her Grandma Truax. For Easter she got more art supplies. As a result she is frequently found sketching or painting.

Emma: Emma has also been offered a role in the Summer Tour of "The White Star". She will be playing the daughter of Jimmy Flinders (all grown up). She is SO excited she can hardly stop talking about it. She will be taken out of school 4 weeks early and do all her schoolwork via email and such. She has also entered Young Women's this past fall and is the typical crazy Beehive! She takes dance classes along with Tori and is hoping to make it back to St. George for their year end recital of "Peter and the Wolf".

Isabel: Isabel is loving fifth grade. She has made a lot of great friends this year. She especially loves math and can't get enough of it. She also continues to take Karate and is excelling like nobody's business. Her karate teachers love her because she is one tough girl while out on the mats. She recently earned her green belt and is determined to continue until she is a full-fledged black belt.

Micah: Micah is still the center of our world. He seems to run the entire household. He recently went through a period of "stealing", but it's been a little while since he hasn't taken anything. (Keeping our fingers crossed.) Our favorite story was when he stole a dishwasher soap pellet from the neighbors so we could "get all our dishes really clean and have our cups come out without even ONE spot!" The following day he broke into a neighbors house, let their dog out, fed their fish and filled all his pockets with the candy from their candy jar. He then went and distributed the candy to his neighborhood friends. What an embarrassing mess! Micah also loves Karate and is excited about learning super hero skills for the day that he will go out and save the world. All in all, he is a very loving boy who makes us smile and keeps us laughing.

As a family we have recently enjoyed the opportunity to go to LA and see "Wicked". It was a very enjoyable trip (although we opted to leave Micah behind). The show was fabulous, and we highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it (regardless of whether you are a musical theater fan or not!) In addition, we had a lovely Easter and enjoyed lots of great family time together. Life just keeps getting better and better!

Introducing Our Family

For the last couple of years I have been trying to send out monthly newsletters about our family. It started off well, but has gotten to the point that I don't update our family news very often at all. So... I'm going to try a blog and see if that works any better.

I think that it's important to record the happenings of your family. I'm not very great at scrapbooking, journal writing, phone calling, or letter writing. This Blogspot is my way of keeping people posted on the happenings of our family as well as starting and maintaining our family history.

So... here is our family:

James, Shelly, Tori (14), Emma (12), Isabel (10) and Micah (4).
